Villa Saletta is a 1,760-acre private estate nestled amidst the rolling hills and vineyards of Tuscany. Once the home of the Riccardi family, bankers to the Medici, this magnificent Borgo has a long and remarkable history. In the Vatican Book of Maps, the 15th- century estate appears between Pisa and Florence, and it features in numerous sketches, paintings and frescoes from the 18th century.
The winemaking tradition here declined when the estate fell into disrepair after the Second World War. It was purchased by the current owners in 1999, and they have since been dedicated to restoring the estate and invigorating the vineyards. Villa Saletta produces a small selection of top-quality Tuscan wines. The 23 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Sangiovese vineyards are cultivated in nine separate plots each ones preserve its own specific soil and climate, and the estate’s approach want to preserve these characteristics in the wines.
