The PALP exhibition center was born in 2016 in the premises of Palazzo Pretorio in the heart of Pontedera
Palazzo Pretorio, an exhibition center of excellence
The original core of the building dates back to the mid-fourteenth century, but its current appearance is the result of a rich and complex historical stratification.
Located in the historic heart of the city, it became the seat of the Podesteria in 1400 and a Vicariate at the end of the 18th century. In 1848 the building housed the premises of the magistrate’s court and until 2013 it was the seat of the detached section of the Court of Pisa.
Recent restoration and adaptation works have made it an excellent exhibition center.
The Pontedera Culture Foundation
The ground floor, composed in part by a loggia closed with glass windows, houses bookshop, cafeteria and restaurant service. The second floor is used as an exhibition space for temporary exhibitions, while the premises of the former prisons, located on the third floor, can be visited and host events.
The events organized at the Palp premises are promoted by the Pontedera Culture Foundation, established in 2016 with the support of the city and its industrial, commercial and financial fabric to encourage the diffusion of culture through the promotion of cultural proposals, with particular attention to the protection and valorisation of assets of historical and artistic interest.
