The Piaggio Museum has gone beyond the Vespa, it has been profoundly renewed and has grown in size and in the richness of its collections to become the largest motorbike museum in Italy and one of the largest in Europe. Since 1884 Piaggio has been designing mobility, which is synonymous of freedom: over a century of imagination, research and innovation, pursuing the greatest dream. Ships, planes, trains, cars and then scooters and motorbikes for the freedom to move and run wherever curiosity, desire, anger or love lead us. Vespa, Ape, Piaggio, Gilera, Moto Guzzi and Aprilia have led revolutions in customs, music, culture and youth. They have encouraged girls and boys to travel, made them break down barriers and cross borders to discover the world. They have thrilled people with great sporting victories, they have raised generations of young champions, they have powered the revolutions of ideas. They are vehicles and brands that have become part of popular culture, immortalised in films and works of art, in literature and painting. But above all, they have been fixed forever in millions of family photographs, everyday objects that accompany personal memories and individual adventures. The Piaggio Museum, housed in one of the oldest buildings of the Pontedera industrial complex, presents to the public innovation, technology, genius and design; it celebrates the emotions and dreams of millions of individuals and countless generations and, above all, it tells the story of a Group that not only moves people, but has always changed the way people move!
