“In the name of Osiris”, this is the title of the first event under the stars which inaugurates the cycle of “Notti del Vino” (Wine Nights). The cycle, dedicated to the knowledge of history, myths and curiosities about wine and drinking from ancient Egypt to the Renaissance, will start next Friday, June 18, at 9pm from Piazza Domenico Cavalca in Vicopisano. Professor Giovanni Ranieri Fascetti will lead the walking tour and will talk about wine in ancient times.
Participation is free and without reservation. Walks last about two hours and in each of the four evenings participants will also meet a winery and a Pisan wine.
Guest of honor of the first evening will be the Frantoio di Vicopisano, the walk will culminate with the celebration of Bacchus but also of Minerva, in the evocative setting of one of the most ancient hydraulic factories of Monte Pisano.
On Friday 25th, always in Vicopisano, the theme of the evening will be “Reflection of love rites in wine” dedicated to the relation between Eros and wine.
Montecatini Val di Cecina and its marvelous landscape will be the background for the following two events: “Sacro Graal – il vino nel medioevo tra Chiesa ed osteria” (Holy Grail – wine in the Middle Ages between Church and tavern), “Le cialde e il vino, Il Carnevale e il Rinascimento dei miti” (Wafers and wine, Carnival and the Renaissance of myths); in this last meeting, the public will be able to visit an exposition of about fifteen ancient waffle irons.
