9th August 2023: happy birthday Leaning Tower | Pisa

On 9 August 2023, the Leaning Tower will celebrate its 850th birthday. The solemn start of the rich programme of celebrations is set for 12 noon with the ringing of the bells of the Tower’s belfry.
The world’s most famous bell tower will be illuminated from 9.30 p.m. and the logo of the monument’s 850th anniversary will be projected onto the marvellous white marble. Finally, from 9.45 p.m. the gradual of the cathedral, in front of the San Ranieri gate, will host a piano concert by the internationally renowned Iranian maestro Ramin Bahrami.

The entire Piazza del Duomo will be dressed up: from 8.30 p.m. to midnight there will be free access to the museums and monuments of the Unesco site, except for the Tower for security reasons.
