Oasi WWF Bosco Cornacchiaia, Vione dei Porcari, Calambrone
Guided tours take place in summer on Sunday mornings and Friday afternoons, autumn-spring tours on Sunday mornings.
Sunday 10 March at 9.30 a.m. Guided tour of approximately 2 ½ hours, length 4 km, for a maximum of 25 participants, minimum age 6 years. The visit is not difficult (the route is NOT suitable for buggies, however), trekking or trainers required. It is advisable to bring half a litre of water per person and mosquito repellent.
The Cornacchiaia Wood is a Regional Nature Reserve, and therefore, according to current regulations, it is forbidden to bring dogs and other pets, even on a leash. Reservations must be made by the Friday before the visit and are accepted subject to availability. Please advise for possible cancellations.
The Cornacchiaia Wood represents the part of the Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli Park forest where the alterations by man and animals (ungulates) have been less incisive, with preserved undergrowth. A typical example of woodland on the coast: pines, holm oaks, ash trees, alders surrounded by water. There are numerous freshwater canals and circular pools with hygrophilous marsh vegetation. The numerous animal species include woodpeckers, jays, foxes, badgers, squirrels, dormice, marsh tortoises, porcupines and martens, as well as fallow deer and wild boar.
Duration: 2 hours and a half, length 4 km approx.
