Spring Events at the Civic Museums in San Miniato

The civic museums of San Miniato are celebrating Mother’s Day and Spring with a series of initiatives linked to ‘Amico Museo’, the campaign to promote the museum heritage of the Region of Tuscany.

The first appointment is on Sunday 11 May from 3.30 to 5.00 p.m. with ‘La mamma nell’arte’: at the Palazzo Comunale Museum, a visit to the Sala delle Sette Virtù and a workshop dedicated to children, who will draw their mothers, starting from the vision of the frescoed figure of the Madonna and the representations of mothers in the history of art. Cost €5 per child, ages 5 to 12, free for mothers.

It continues on Sunday 18 May for International Museum Day: with purchase of the entrance ticket, special free guided tours will be available at 11 a.m. and 12 noon at the Museo di Palazzo Comunale, and at 4 and 5 p.m. at the Museo della Memoria.

A plunge into ancient San Miniato from Roman times to the Middle Ages: Saturday 24 May at 4 p.m. guided tour of the recently reopened archaeological area of San Genesio. An immersion in the life of the village, a commercial crossroads on the road between Florence and Pisa. For children, workshop for the creation of a Lombard medallion using the embossing technique. Ticket €3 for the visit, €5 per workshop.

Grand finale on Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June at the Museo della Memoria with a Clue Hunt: at the end of the visit there will be a quiz on the history of San Miniato during the Venten
