La “Via Santacrocese del Volto Santo”

The “Via Santacrocese del Volto Santo” is an itinerary between history, faith and culture that unites some fundamental places linked by one of the most important pilgrimages, which has certainly characterized our territory in a decisive and indelible way, that towards the “Holy Face of Lucca.”

Starting from the Abbey of San Salvatore in Fucecchio, a fundamental crossroads between Francigena and Romea Strata, the point of arrival of the Via Medicea where the “Miraculous Crucifix” is located, towards Santa Croce Sull’Arno, which draws not only its name but in part its very origin from the crucifix itself contained in the collegiate church of San Lorenzo.

From Santa Croce Sull’Arno one reconnects to the route of the Francigena, which was a maze of roads, and heads north, first to Poggio Adorno, then to Galleno and Altopascio and finally to Lucca.
