The Brunelleschi Fortress in the old medieval village of Vicopisano opens the doors to celebrate the Chestnut Feast (Castagnata) on the day dedicated to the Italian patron saint San Francesco from Assisi, who visited Vicopisano in the year 1211 during his journey along the Pilgrim Route, the Via Francigena.
The feast starts at 5.00 pm with a seminary on historic subject by Prof. Giovanni Ranieri Fascetti. To be followed local wine and chestnuts are offered free to the participants. Free admittance
