Taste | Chianni

Taste Chianni” is the traditional appointment with the summer market of typical products held at night, every Thursday in July and August from 8 p.m. to midnight in Piazza Bartoli.

You can sample gastronomic excellence, enjoying the cool evening air, sipping a glass of wine from local producers or aperitifs from open-air bars.

Chianni is a municipality in Valdera 50 km from Pisa. The town is set in an area surrounded by low mountains and chestnut woods. Of Etruscan origin, it was a medieval castle disputed between the bishop of Volterra and the Republic of Pisa before passing definitively under Florence.

In this landscape that has remained unchanged for centuries, olive trees are cultivated, resulting in a quality production. The olives, before ripening, are hand-picked, selected, washed and then mechanically pressed in mills. This is how the extra virgin olive oil of Chianni is born, with its intense colour, light, low acidity and fruity flavour. Its woods are beaten by wild boar hunters, in whose honour one of the most heartfelt festivals in Tuscany is celebrated in November.
