The Pisan June: events on the Walls of Pisa

Giugno Pisano experiences on the Walls of Pisa with many special events to pay homage to the month of historical events. Walking cinema, children’s workshop, botanical and themed visit, running walk and night visits: nine appointments to enjoy the unique panorama of Pisa from above, each time with a different perspective.

Friday 2 June with Mura di Pisa Night Experience, a night-time visit on the Walls with video projections, a journey through the history of the city with the collaboration of Acquario della Memoria. Thanks to silent headphones, participants will be immersed in an enthralling journey through the centuries, rich in facts and anecdotes: from the ingenious workings of the Roman baths to the splendours of the Maritime Republic, from the life of Laura Ruschi to the vicissitudes of the Marzotto factory. Repeats also on Friday 9, Saturday 17 and Friday 23 June, departure at 9.30 pm from the Torre Piezometrica and arrival in Piazza dei Miracoli, tickets cost 10 euro.

Sunday 4 June appointment dedicated to children: from 4 pm workshop to make decorations and themed flags, in the space of the Torre del Catallo with the view of Piazza dei Miracoli. Colours, various objects and re-used material such as paper and cardboard will be used. The experience will begin with a short guided tour on the history of the Walls and Pisa designed for young children. Dedicated to children up to 10 years old, maximum 15 participants, accompanying adults required (free entrance for them), ticket 5 euro

Saturday 10 June third and last appointment of the year with Mura botaniche: guided tour with experts to discover the characteristics of the urban flora, from the capers of the Walls to flowers and shrubs growing on the walls or in the immediate vicinity. Departure at 3 p.m. from the Piezometric Tower, arrival in Piazza dei Miracoli and end at the Botanical Garden. Ticket €8, booking recommended by email to educazione.ortomuseobot@sma.unipi.it

Sunday 18 June, on the weekend of the Luminara, ‘Le Mura e il Giugno Pisano’ (The Walls and the Pisan June): a guided tour at high altitude to discover the history, the city monuments and the origin of the historical events. Departures at 6 and 6.30 p.m. from Torre Piezometrica, arrival in Piazza dei Miracoli at 7.30/20 p.m. Ticket €8, €3 for children up to 8 years old.

Saturday 24 June Early morning wake-up call: from 6 to 8 am the recreational-motor march ‘At dawn with Count Ugolino’, 6 km with start and finish in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, 2.4 km of which at altitude on the Walls. The competition is valid for the ‘Three Provinces’ running trophy

On Friday 30 June, the grand finale with ‘Mura di Pisa by night’, a guided tour under the stars, taking advantage of the cooler hours of the evening to discover unusual views of the city, from the Piezometric Tower to the magic of Piazza dei Miracoli illuminated by the moon. Ticket 8 euro, 3 euro for children up to 8 years old
