Olive Oil Festival in Ghizzano | Peccioli

The Sagra dell’Olio Novo in Ghizzano di Peccioli takes place on the weekends of 16-17 and 23-24 May.

Food stands open on Saturday for dinner and on Sunday also for lunch to taste “bruschette” with olive oil and garlic and other Tuscan dishes. Music and theatre performances alternate during the event.

The festival was generally held in February because the olives were once harvested late November or early December, then pressed. People used to celebrate the harvest with a lunch in the warehouses.
