Chianni Opera Festival

The 10th edition of Chianni Opera Festival offers the following programme:

– Saturday 27 June, 9pm – Verdi – Nabucco
Piazza del Castello, Chianni
– Sunday 28 June, 6pm – Pergolesi – Stabat Mater
Church of San Donato, Chianni
– Saturday 12 September, from 6pm to 11pm – Music Day at the Piccolo Teatro in Chianni

Of Etruscan origin, Chianni was a medieval castle disputed between the Bishop of Volterra and the Republic of Pisa before passing definitively under Florence. If from a historical point of view it does not present any particular attractions, apart from the Pieve di San Donato with its apse carved out of a tower of the castle, it is an ideal place for food and wine and itineraries. Its woods are beaten by wild boar hunters, in whose honour one of the most heartfelt festivals in Tuscany is celebrated in November.
