The roads along the border between Pisa and Lucca | Ripafratta

Back for the fourth time is the cycle of visits, hikes and walks “Le vie del confine” around the village of Ripafratta: stories and landscapes of the ancient border between Pisa and Lucca in Valdiserchio.

The starting point is the village of Ripafratta, fulcrum of the medieval fortress system that guarded the border between the republics of Pisa and Lucca, with its imposing fortress. The review includes six initiatives in the period from February to May: it starts with an excursion to the “Torre segata” of Filettole on 25 February, then on 10 March a walk on Monte Maggiore with recognition of the spontaneous “erbi” of tradition, to continue on 7 April with the walk “Le antiche cateratte dell’Ozzeri” (The ancient floodgates of the Ozzeri), on 21 April with a visit to the fortress and the village of Ripafratta; on 6 May “Il cammino dei canali” (The path of the canals), from Ripafratta to Rigoli and back along the Fosso del Mulino and the Ozzeri canal. On 18 May, the event concludes with the conference ‘Crocevia di cammini’, a debate on the theme of sustainable tourism and itineraries crossing the territory.
