Artistic Nativity Crib in San Romano | Montopoli in Val d’Arno

At the Sanctuary of the Virgin of San Romano, between Pontedera and San Miniato, the tradition of the nativity scene is an old one: for 95 years (first time in 1922) it has been built every year in a side chapel of the church.

Since 1995, the nativity scene has been set up outside, first in the garden then in the cloister, becoming ever larger and more meticulous in its details, until it has become a true tradition, known not only in the neighbouring towns but throughout Tuscany.

Art Crib numbers: 300 square metres of exhibition space, 2 months of work to prepare it, 20,000 visitors a year, 1922 the first year it was made, 95 the number of this t edition.
