The current site of the Wood Museum is located at Corso Matteotti 35 in the centre of Ponsacco. It is a place of interest from a historical and cultural point of view: it narrates the evolution of handicrafts and the intelligence of craftsmen, their creativity and the ‘carpenter’s trade’. In the museum, the carpenter’s ‘ancient workshop’ comes back to life with the most common working tools used to build those pieces of furniture such as ‘la , Pancina’ and ‘la Ponsacchina’ that were exceptionally successful on the Italian market and made Ponsacco one of the main centres of furniture production.
There is a permanent workshop: the Clay Workshop and the Youth Information Service. Periodically, the Wood Museum management organises creative workshops for children accompanied by adults. It is possible for primary and secondary school classes, and groups of tourists, to take a guided tour of the Museum that also includes an experiential workshop with a carpenter.
