May 2023 saw the inauguration of the Riglione Bridge, the new cycle-pedestrian bridge over the Arno, connecting the districts of Riglione and Cisanello, which can be used by pedestrians and cyclists.

Accessing from Cisanello
On the Cisanello side, the bridge can be accessed from the parking area behind the hospital, taking the viaduct that connects to the footbridge. It will then be possible to reach the bridge from the Piagge area, taking the cycle path that starts from the Tondo (small roundabout in front of Bar Lilli) and goes along the embankment to the hospital.
Accessing from Riglione
On the Riglione side, the bridge is accessible from Via Malatesta, via a ramp that passes around the green area of the Arno floodplain. Transit to the cycle-pedestrian bridge is forbidden for cars and mopeds.
The Structure
The Riglione Bridge is a ‘cable-stayed’ walkway, supported by two metal masts almost 27 metres high, similar to the Brooklyn Bridge, to give an idea. A steel and reinforced concrete structure, slightly curved, it is 662 metres long with a width of 4 metres and protective balustrades.
The footbridge is positioned more than 13.30 metres above river level, so that it remains one and a half metres above the maximum river flow.
