The Carlo Pepi Collection, about 15,000 works of contemporary art, is shown in two beautiful villas in Crespina: one in Via I Gioielli, the other in Piazza Battisti.
The art collection of Carlo pepi
Pepi was the founder of the Casa Natale Modigliani, where he created a study center with books and documents related to the figure of the artist.
This is a private collection created over the course of a lifetime by Carlo Pepi, a passionate collector, who extended his initial interest from the Macchiaioli to 20th century and contemporary artists. The collection is centered on the Macchiaioli, their followers and Fattori’s students, but there is also a section on the first half of the twentieth century and another very substantial section on the avant-garde of the second half of the twentieth century.
Nestled in the Pisan hills, Crespina has been since the 16th century holiday destination of noble families from Pisa and Florence, which through the villas and houses they built have left evidence of appreciation for the natural beauty of these places.
