“Bagni di Luce” – Lights show | San Giuliano Terme

On August 24th San Giuliano Terme organizes a “luminara”, a lights show, to celebrate the patron  Saint Bartholomew,

The citizens assemble the biancheria (Italian word for ‘linen’), the wooden structures painted in white that welcome the candles and frame the windows and the outlines of the buildings, the three bridges of the village, and the majestic facade of the thermal palace, according to the custom of the famous “Luminara di San Ranieri” in Pisa. The approximately 4,000 candles replace artificial lights for a night and illuminate the small boats on the waters of the Mulino ditch with a touch of magic.
