Living Nativity Scene in San Piero a Grado

For 23 years, the live nativity scene has been held on 24 December at 9.30 pm and on 26 December at 5.00 pm in the area adjacent to the Romanesque basilica of San Piero a Grado.

PLEASE NOTE: due to bad weather, the event scheduled for the 24th has been cancelled.
The event scheduled for the 26th remains valid (barring further deterioration in weather conditions) and, to make up for the cancelled event, another event will be held on 27 December from 4pm to 6pm
(see poster opposite).

The nativity scene consists of 200 figures: at the entrance, visitors are welcomed by the customs office of Bethlehem, where they are registered and can leave a sign of their entry by exchanging currency that will be used to purchase products in the artisan shops present.

The mandatory route also includes a stop at Herod’s palace with the changing of the guard and at the stable, with the donkey and the ox, where the Saviour is born, visited by the Magi guided by a bright star.
