In Orciano Pisano, the least populated municipality in the Terre di Pisa, stands a small church that the distracted traveller runs the risk of not considering as much as it deserves.

Church of San Michele Arcangelo – Orciano Pisano

What to see

Behind its simple and clean façade in late neoclassical style, the Church of San Michele Arcangelo in Orciano Pisano offers visitors first and foremost a precious copy of Raphael’s Saint Michael Archangel.

But that’s not all: the high altar, made of white marble inlaid with polychrome marble, is one of the few elements left intact after the terrible earthquake that devastated the lower Pisan hills in 1846.

And it doesn’t end there, because the stoup, also used as a baptismal font, dates back as far as 1644.
