Festival of the Theatre, Popular Drama | San Miniato

The San Miniato Theatre and Popular Drama Festival is gearing up for another exciting theatre season.

This 80th edition of the Festival will once again feature twelve high-calibre performances, taking place from 25 June to 30 July at 9.30 pm in various venues across the historic centre.

The San Miniato Institute of Popular Drama, Italy’s oldest theatre festival, has been a unique phenomenon on the Italian and European theatre scene.

The plays that have been staged over the years belong to a particular genre of drama known as ‘Teatro dello Spirito’ (Theatre of the Spirit), a term referring to all those works that explore the search for the meaning and purpose of life.
