Podere Marcampo

In the heart of the Balze park stands the farm "Podere Marcampo", which is also used as a farm holiday centre thanks to its three rooms and three flats that are always ready to welcome guests from all over the world. The farm is located just 4 km from the Etruscan city of Volterra. Genuino Del Duca and his daughter Claudia have resumed the winemaking tradition born in the time of the Etruscans. In fact, the young vineyard was established in 2005 on a soil that is mainly clayey but rich in minerals and is worked entirely by hand. The resulting products are all characterised by minerality, elegance but also structure. There are currently 5 wines on the estate: a white IGT "Terrablu" from Vermentino grapes and four red IGT "Genuino" (80% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot), "Marcampo" (50% Sangiovese, 50% Merlot), "Severus" (Sangiovese) and "Giusto alle Balze" (Merlot), and grappas made from a selection of Sangiovese and Merlot pomace. Giusto alle Balze, the company's flagship wine, is only produced in excellent vintages. Two hundred and fifty centuries-old olive trees produce the extra virgin olive oil.
