The Geothermal Hills Theatre Festival, now in its 12th edition, generally takes place from the beginning of July to the end of August in the municipalities of the geothermal area of Pomarance, Castelnuovo Val di Cecina, Monteverdi Marittimo (Pisa) and Monterotondo Marittimo (Grosseto) with a rich programme of shows, performances and side events.
This summer, from 15 June to 13 August, the Festival offers a playbill of theatre, music and circus, full of events chosen to enhance the territory in an unprecedented way, offering visitors a truly extra-ordinary experience, in settings that range from the medieval village squares to the metaphysical and post-industrial ring of the imposing Geothermal Arena, built by Enel Green Power in the disused cooling tower of Larderello’s Power Station 3, which will be the site of the incredible performance by Zen tightrope walker Andrea Loreni, “Sopra l’inferno” (Above Hell) with its national premiere (8 July): a steel cable stretched into the sky, to narrate the subtle balance between man and infinity.
The main theme of the Festival will be environmental sustainability. The festival opens with a four-day marathon of performances and meetings from 15 to 18 June on the relationship between man and nature in various aspects
The shows will be flanked by many side events, with workshops and masterclasses led by the guests present, as well as surprise performances, aperitifs and debates
