In July and August, the Montescudaio DOC wineries welcome visitors wishing to discover the magic of wine with an aperitif from 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm, set against the hilly backdrop of the village of Montescudaio in the Val di Cecina.

The history of viticulture in this area stretches back through the centuries to the present day. The Wine Festival was established in 1968 (early October), whilst in 1977 the DOC status was granted for two types of wine: a red made from Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Malvasia and other varieties such as Canaiolo and Colorino, and a white made from Trebbiano, Malvasia and Vermentino, which can also be produced as Vin Santo, dry, semi-dry or sweet.
