A walk along country roads around Fauglia

11 June: Along the places of the Municipality of Fauglia, a circular walk along country roads and paths between Acciaiolo, Santo Regolo and Luciana

The walk aims to rediscover the jewels of what was once the ‘most beautiful part of Tuscany’, along the ‘Via Regia Maremmana’, among shepherds and transhumance, important artists (including Giorgio Kienerk and the Macchiaioli), the art critic Diego Martelli, the remains of the medieval castle of Santo Regolo (former property of the Ciano family, with fortifications from the Second World War) on the anniversary of the Battle of Malacoda (20 May 1498) in which some of the most important commanders of the time clashed and which saw the Florentine mercenary armies suffer one of the most serious defeats in their history.
We will recall these great facts of local and national history with the help of experts (including Carlo Pepi, a great connoisseur of the Macchiaioli), alternating various stops to interpret the landscape and its history.
