Steak under the Tower| Montopoli in Val d’Arno

Every year on the first Sunday in August, from 7.00 pm, ‘Rosso Montopoli’ returns – the food festival, now in its seventh year, which takes place in Piazza San Matteo, at the foot of the tower of the same name, a location offering a breathtaking view over the Lower Valdarno.

At the foot of the tower, built in 1431 and a remnant of the ancient fortress that once defended the town, from 7.00 pm you can dine al fresco whilst savouring local culinary delights from Mariannelli butchers.

The colour ‘Rosso Montopoli’ is no coincidence: it is a shade created by a French fashion house as a tribute to the typical colours associated with terracotta work – a traditional local craft – as well as to the Tuscan steak from the historic Marianelli butcher’s shop
