Spring Festival in Ripafratta

A tradition of Ripafratta is back: the “Spring Festival,” a whole day dedicated to exploring the local area through walks and tours, as well as enjoying good food: asparagus and seasonal vegetables, a big barbecue, homemade torta co’ bischeri, and more.

Walk from Lucca to Ripafratta
Meet at 9.30 am in Lucca by the Cathedral: the guided walk will wind its way along the River Serchio, past medieval fortresses and through a unique natural setting. Arrival in Ripafratta for lunch.

Excursion: “Rupecava and La Romagna”
At 9.00 am, we set off from Ripafratta along the ancient paths of Monte Pisano, heading for the Hermitage of Rupecava and then to La Romagna, amidst centuries-old chestnut groves, stories and legends. Return to Ripafratta for lunch.

Walks: “Patches of green around Ripafratta”
Scheduled for 10.00, 11.30, 15.00 and 16.30, these short walks will take you on a journey of discovery through the woods behind Ripafratta to explore traditional wild herbs, led by an expert guide.

Walk: “The Stories of the Fosso”
Scheduled for 10.00: we will walk along the banks of the Medici-era Fosso del Mulino, exploring the environment, history, traditions and figures that have shaped our local area.

“La Torre Centino” Excursion
Scheduled for 3 pm: from Ripafratta, we will climb the CAI trails towards Torre Centino, an ancient Pisan watchtower that for centuries has guarded the Rocca’s rear, overlooking the Pisa plain.

Guided tours of the Rocca di Ripafratta and the village
Guided tours of the Rocca (10am, 11am, 3pm, 4pm) and the village of Ripafratta (10am, 3pm, 5pm) will allow participants to discover the thousand-year history of the monument and its surroundings, and to wander through the narrow streets whilst listening to the stories of the village. Free of charge and no booking required.
