Presepiando, Nativity Scenes in Montegemoli| Pomarance

06/01/2026

Montegemoli, Via di Montegemoli, Montegemoli

From 7th December to 6th January, Presepiando returns: exhibitions of nativity scenes in the streets, on windowsills, in mailboxes, outside homes, in farmhouses along a route of about 15 km along State Road 439 that touches Montegemoli, Cerreto, Canova and Serra. The nativity scenes are created by the inhabitants of the hamlets with glass bottles, stones, cloth, corks, walnut shells and whatever can be turned into characters.

“Presepiando” was born in 1997 in the small village of Montegemoli (famous for its wood-baked bread) in the municipality of Pomarance. The village itself can be defined as a ‘small nativity scene’ thanks to its favourable location in the unspoilt Tuscan countryside. Together with the village, the three surrounding country areas of Canova, Cerreto, Serra, squeezed into an area of about 30 square kilometres, with less than 200 inhabitants between village and farms
