The Maggio of| Buti

In Buti, three consecutive Sundays to celebrate the tradition of the Canto del Maggio, the Ottava Rima and the extemporaneous Poetry

It starts on April 6 with the centenary of Nello Landi and a gathering of poets from all over Italy.
It continues on April 13 with the representation of the “Passion of Jesus Christ” and closes on April 27 with the 250th anniversary of Pietro Frediani, discovering the places that marked his life.

The popular tradition of the Maggio meets theatrical innovation, thanks to the direction of Dario Marconcini and Paolo Billi. The Maggio della Passione was staged for the first time in April 1985, with a text translated in Maggio by the Butese poet Enzo Pardini.
