Partial solar eclipse in Peccioli

12/08/2026 ore: 19:30 - 20:30

Palazzo Senza Tempo, Via Carraia, 13, Peccioli

On Wednesday 12 August from 7.00 pm, the west-facing terrace of the Church of San Verano in Peccioli will become the ideal spot from which to observe the partial solar eclipse, one of the rarest and most spectacular astronomical events of the year.

The partial eclipse will begin at 7.30 pm and end with the sunset at 8.18 pm. From Tuscany, the Moon’s disc will cover over 93 per cent of the Sun — an exceptional percentage, comparable only to the eclipse of 11 August 1999.

The sunset will occur whilst the Sun is still partially obscured, offering an extremely rare sight: a crescent of the Sun turning red on the horizon.

The Alta Valdera Amateur Astronomers’ Association (AAAV) will guide the public through the observation using suitable equipment and providing scientific explanations accessible to all. Admission is free of charge. Sunglasses for safe observation of the Sun will be provided to spectators.
