European Heritage Days | Pisa

The GEP – European Heritage Days, Europe’s most popular cultural event, returns on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September. Over the two days, guided tours, special events and special openings will be organised at Italian museums and cultural venues, each year focusing on a different theme.
On Saturday, special evening openings are scheduled at state museums, with admission at a nominal fee of €1.00 (excluding those entitled to free entry under the law).

On 26 and 27 September, Pisa’s National Museums are offering special opening hours with extended evening opening times and a double bill of musical events to accompany visits to the art collections.

The Museum of Ancient Ships in Pisa will be open on Saturday from 2.00 pm to 11.00 pm and on Sunday from 10.00 am to 7.30 pm, the Museum of San Matteo on Saturday from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm and from 7.30 pm to 11.30 pm, and on Sunday from 9.00 am to 1.30 pm and from 2.00 pm to 7.00 pm.
On 26 September, admission for both museums is 1 euro for evening entry after 7.30 pm.

On Saturday 26 September at 10.30 am at the Palazzo Reale Museum, ‘The Four Seasons’ with the Ferracci and De Nitto duo on violin and accordion. The musicians will perform Vivaldi’s famous piece in Max Richter’s contemporary reworking, followed by Astor Piazzolla’s ‘Las Cuatro Estaciones Portenas’.

On 26 and 27 September, the National Museums of Pisa are holding special opening days with extended opening hours

On Sunday 27 September at 11.00 am at the Museo di San Matteo, the ‘Goldberg Variations’ will be performed by ‘I Cameristi del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino’. Lorenzo Fuoco on violin, Dezi Herber on viola and Elida Pali on cello will perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s work in Dmitry Sitkovetsky’s transcription for strings. These two musical events form part of the ‘Music and Dance in Pisa’s National Museums’ programme and are included in the €5 admission ticket for the museums.

At the Certosa Monumentale di Calci, opening hours will be from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm and from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
