Summer in Montecatini Val di Cecina

The summer festival has been held for two years in Montecatini Val di Cecina and its hamlets from June to September. The name “Sotto il cielo, tra le due torri” (Under the sky, between the two towers) is not coincidental: the town’s symbol is the Belforti Tower, a medieval tower mentioned in D’Annunzio’s novel “Forse che sì forse che no” (Perhaps that yes, perhaps that no), which dominates the medieval town together with the tower of the former Camporciano copper mine, today the Mining Museum, the most important in Europe in the 19th century.

There is the white-blue festival in Ponteginori (2-11 August), the Colours and Flavours festival in La Sassa (10-15 August) and the 38th Civil Protection Festival in La Gabella (16 August – 1 September). The highlight is the Settembre Montecatinese: from 7 to 9 September, the town fair with religious procession and fireworks display.
