Arsenali Repubblicani, Via Bonanno, Pisa
Until Sunday 10 May, the Arsenali Repubblicani in Pisa will host the exhibition “Ligabue. Il ruggito dell’anima” (Ligabue. The Roar of the Soul), an opportunity to rediscover the expressive power and inner world of an artist who was able to speak with a unique and universal voice.
The exhibition features over 80 works that recount the life, psyche and tormented history of this fascinating artist, highlighting his proximity to the great protagonists of European Expressionism.
The exhibition takes visitors through the fundamental stages of Ligabue’s life and artistic career, revealing some of his most emblematic works. These include his famous self-portraits and his iconic depictions of ferocious animals: majestic tigers, leopards, birds of prey in action or engaged in struggles for survival, and imposing lions. An immersive journey into a harsh and magnetic jungle, which powerfully expresses the visual and symbolic intensity of the artist’s inner world.
