Crossbow contest City of Volterra

On 25th August at 9.30 p.m, in the splendid setting of Piazza dei Priori, in Volterra, a challenge between six nationally recognised Crossbow Companies: Società dei Terzieri Massetani, Compagnia Balestrieri di Porta San Marco, Compagnia Balestrieri Lucca, Compagnia Balestrieri di Pisa, Federazione Balestrieri Sammarinesi, Compagnia Balestrieri della Città di Volterra.

Each Company competes with its best 12 marksmen in the team competition, hitting their target with a diameter of only 15 cm. It will then be the “Corniolo”, which will decree the best crossbowman among the best 4 shooters of each team. A beautiful spectacle of historical re-enactment, in the unique atmosphere of the Piazza dei Priori, with flag shows, historical processions and challenges to the last arrow
