Christmas in Volterra

Volterra celebrates Christmas and New Year‘s Eve with a programme of events of various kinds and for all ages taking place in the beautiful historic centre.

From 6 to 8 December with “Svelathri, Christmas Adventure among the shops of Volterra”: a journey through artisan workshops where crafts come to life and every encounter holds a fragment of beauty. With the Puzzle Tour, you can explore the heart of the historic centre, discover ancient crafts, collect pieces hidden in the shops… until the final surprise.

On 11 December, the Olympic flame will pass through the city, while on 14 December, the streets of the city centre will come alive with travelling shows, music, children’s activities and the arrival of Santa Claus.

From 27 December to 6 January (except 31 December), guided tours (12:00-13:00) and urban trekking (10:30-12:30) in Italian and English. Meeting point at the Volterra Tourist Consortium office in Piazza dei Priori 18-20.

On 31 December, from 11 p.m., music and entertainment accompany the public as they welcome in 2026, while on 1 January, at 11 a.m. at Persio Flacco Theatre, the traditional New Year’s Concert will be held

Closing on 11th January with the arrival of the Befana in the square, accompanied by the Saline Fire Brigade
