Amateur Theatre Festival in San Miniato

The Amateur Theatre Festival, now in its 29th edition, takes place from 26 October to 1 November in the Conference Hall of the Hotel San Miniato. Originally established as an event dedicated to amateur theatre, the ‘Estate di San Martino’ brings together companies from across Italy every year to compete for the ‘Città di San Miniato’ Amateur Theatre Award

‘L’Estate di San Martino’ refers to the story of the saint sharing his cloak with a poor man – an act of sharing much like the art of theatre itself. Almost always, the scene depicting Martino and the poor man was set against a backdrop of San Miniato.
