The lavender fields in Pieve di Santa Luce have quickly attracted the curiosity of travellers, turning this area into a must-see.
The fields were created a few years ago by a group of entrepreneurs (agricultural and otherwise) who converted the former wheat fields into lavender fields in the Pisan Hills. Companies and producers welcome visitors by recounting and showing the stages of work, from harvesting to steam distillation to obtaining essential oils with beneficial properties.
Between June and July there are ‘The Lavender Days’, an event organised by the Colli Pisani business network. A month full of initiatives and activities, with visits to lavender fields, flower workshops, massages, workshops on the use of lavender in cosmetics, Zen walks, bike rides, aromatic experiences, and stargazing evenings.
In addition to the lavender, we recommend a visit to the Santa Luce Regional Reserve, a paradise of birdwatching and nature activities with holistic and spiritual trails. The same as the Buddhist monastery in Pomaia, which in the past has hosted important VIPs such as Richard Gere or Roberto Baggio.
