Marina di Pisa, Church of Santa Maria Ausiliatrice

The Church of Santa Maria Ausiliatrice is in Marina di Pisa, in the square of the same name.

Similarities with the Cathedral of Pisa
Viewed from the outside, it looks like a sister to the Cathedral of the Assumption in Piazza dei Miracoli. And in a way, it actually is: although it was only inaugurated in 1916, its two-tiered façade echoes the Pisan Romanesque style, including the characteristic use of marble cladding that alternates black and white bands.

Historical Notes
At the end of the 1800s, Marina di Pisa still belonged to San Piero a Grado. In 1906, Archbishop Cardinal Pietro Maffi acquired the land on which the church was built, designed by architect Arpesani. Construction lasted from 1912 to 1916, the year of its inauguration.
The parish was established on October 12, 1911, and entrusted to the Salesians, who left it in 1981.
