On Sunday, May 10, the streets of Pomarance will come alive with an extraordinary Renaissance reenactment to mark the 400th anniversary of the birth of Cristoforo Roncalli, known as “Il Pomarancio.”

Period costumes, musicians and drummers, art, history, and tradition, and the unique atmosphere of the 17th century. An unmissable event for young and old alike, featuring performances, culture, and local flavors!

Cristoforo Roncalli, alias Il Pomarancio, was one of the leading Italian painters of the late Mannerist and Counter-Reformation periods. Active in Florence, Siena, Rome, and Loreto, he skillfully combined classical solemnity with intense expressive realism. His works, admired by the greatest artists of his time, made him a central figure in the Italian art scene of the 16th and 17th centuries. More info on his works at
