Opening of the museums in Santa Maria a Monte

Museums represent a guided itinerary that touches on the most significant historical-artistic evidence of the ancient castle of Santa Maria a Monte.

Starting from Casa Carducci Museum, which houses the permanent painting collection of Antonio Possenti and the correspondence between Michele Carducci and the Municipality of Santa Maria a Monte, the itinerary will run along Via Carducci, touching on the Medieval Cistern with its underground annex, the Collegiate Church with its medieval works such as the crucifix, the wooden Madonna and the pulpit, and including a climb to the Clock Tower.

The itinerary finishes on the Rocca, with a visit to the excavations in the Archaeological Area of the Rocca and to the collections of the Museo Civico, with two routes dedicated to the Blessed Diana Giuntini and to another great fellow-citizen: Vincenzo Galilei, father of the illustrious Galileo, born here in 1520.
