Awarded with the Orange Flag<\/strong> by the Italian Touring Club, Peccioli<\/strong> is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.<\/em><\/p>\n

Peccioli and Contemporary Art\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Peccioli skyline is recognizable from the bell tower of the Pieve di San Verano<\/strong>, by the architect Bellincioni, the same author of other bell towers in the area. The interior is also worth a visit for the valuable works of the Pisan school, dating back to the 13th century and preserved in the Museum of Sacred Art.<\/p>\n

It boasts a diversified Museum Complex which includes the Archaeological Museum<\/a>, the Museum of Palazzo Pretorio<\/a>, the Museum of Sacred Art<\/a>, and the Bell Tower<\/a> (42 meters high). The Archaeological Museum preserves the artifacts found in the excavations of Etruscan and medieval archeological sites. The Palazzo Pretorio shows a collection of modern lithographs and engravings, as well as Russian icons.<\/p>\n

The surroundings with rolling hills are peppered with boroughs including Fabbrica<\/strong>, with a Romanesque church, Libbiano<\/strong>, with an astronomical observatory popular among enthusiasts and students, Montelopio<\/strong>, former refuge of the Knights Templar; and Legoli, with a tabernacle by Benozzo Gozzoli<\/strong> in the Chapel of Santa Caterina. Ghizzano is also worth a mention: a cozy hamlet embellished with permanent works of international contemporary art and the Giardino Sonoro<\/a> (Italian Garden).<\/p>\n

Peccioli is also the venue of important shows such as the Undici Lune Festival<\/strong> and meetings with opinion and media leaders.<\/p>\n

Oil and wine<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The area has always been appreciated for the production of extra virgin olive oil and wine. The Colline Pisane Wine Trail<\/a> goes through here, with important wineries that have joined the DOC Terre di Pisa<\/a> label. It is here that the \u201ccolombana\u201d grape is produced, very sugary and with an intense smell that becomes amber in color when ripening.<\/p>\n
