Many are also the well equipped bathing resorts (called &#8220;bagni&#8221;), besides a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/attrazione\/pisa-tirrenia-sunlight-acquapark\/\"><strong>Aquapark, <\/strong><\/a>offering entertainment and fun.<br \/>\nOutdoor and sport activities are the &#8220;flagship&#8221; of Tirrenia: the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/tirrenia.coni.it\/\">Centro CONI<\/a> <\/strong>is a very important training center for national teams of different sports , two golf courses (18 and 9 holes), sailing schools, scuba diving courses, surf and deep sea fishing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sea but also nature:<\/strong> Tirrenia boasts wide sandy beaches, free or private, featured by an<strong> eco-system of dunes<\/strong>\u00a0of remarkable naturalistic value. The dunes is a protected <strong>WWF area<\/strong> which organizes eccursions and guided visits all the year round.<\/p>\n<p>Close to the beach, a vast mediterranean pinewood stretches until the\u00a0 <strong>Tenuta di Tombolo, <\/strong>including the <strong>Oasi di Cornacchiaia, <\/strong>a WWF protected area as well.<br \/>\nWe are in <strong>Calambrone<\/strong>, the last resort of the Pisa seaboard, which during the Fascist period (1930s) became so famous in Italy for the <strong>summer colonies for children<\/strong>, that was called the <strong>\u2018City of Childhood\u2019<\/strong>. The seven former colonies &#8211; among which the Rosa Maltoni Mussolini and the Regina Elena<b>, <\/b>were built on the coast with nothing around and represent nowadays a memory of the Fascist architecture. Today, these monumental buildings have been restored and turned into accommodation facilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A curiosity<\/strong>. Between the 1930s and the 1960s, Tirrenia hosted the most important\u00a0 <strong>film studios in Italy, <\/strong>before those of Cinecitt\u00e0 in Rome.\u00a0 \u201c<strong>Pisorno\u201d<\/strong> was the name that the playwright Giacchino Forzano gave to them, as a shortening of the cities of Pisa and Livorno.
