The second edition of \u201cMusic and Ballet in the National Museums of Pisa\u201d festival returns with a series of 18 events held at the Palazzo Reale Museum, the San Matteo Museum, the Museum of Ancient Ships and the Certosa Monumentale di Calci.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first event takes place on Saturday 23 May at 11.00 am:<\/strong> the National Museum of Palazzo Reale <\/strong>will host \u2018Le donne di Puccini\u2019 (Puccini’s Women) a dance performance that explores the life of Giacomo Puccini through his humanity and contradictions. <\/p>\n

It highlights his timeless and universal compositional genius alongside the provincial reality of Torre del Lago, his favourite retreat where he was able to concentrate and compose. Puccini surrounded by women \u2013 those from his real life who inspired the heroines of his operas \u2013 from the conflicts with his wife Elvira to his relationship with his friend Giulia, right through to the tragedy of the death of his maid Doria.<\/p>\n
