Museums open from 9.00 pm to midnight<\/p>\n<p><strong>Volterra <\/strong>is set on a hill between the Era and Cecina valleys. With its double ring of walls\u2014the Etruscan and the 13th-century ones\u2014it is a town with a medieval appearance, where one can still savour the atmosphere of an ancient village.<br \/>Volterra (Vel\u00e1thri in Etruscan) was one of the main city-states of ancient Etruria and, during the Middle Ages, was the seat of an important bishopric.
