And in a way, it actually is: although it was only inaugurated in 1916, its two-tiered fa\u00e7ade echoes the Pisan Romanesque style, including the characteristic use of marble cladding that alternates black and white bands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Historical Notes<\/strong><br>At the end of the 1800s, Marina di Pisa still belonged to San Piero a Grado. In 1906, Archbishop Cardinal Pietro Maffi acquired the land on which the church was built, designed by architect Arpesani.
