{"id":52399,"date":"2024-01-15T15:49:41","date_gmt":"2024-01-15T14:49:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/attrazione\/crespina-church-of-san-michele-arcangelo\/"},"modified":"2024-01-15T15:52:09","modified_gmt":"2024-01-15T14:52:09","slug":"crespina-church-of-san-michele-arcangelo","status":"publish","type":"attrazione","link":"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/en\/attrazione\/crespina-church-of-san-michele-arcangelo\/","title":{"rendered":"Crespina | Church of San Michele Arcangelo"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The parish church, built at the end of the 19th century to replace the old 8th-century church that stood at the foot of the castle, has a fa\u00e7ade with a single order of simple smooth pilasters supporting the triangular tympanum and embellished with a statue of St Michael Archangel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interior features a large chancel arch supported by double marble columns adorned with stucco capitals. The ceiling decoration of the nave, dome and apse with &#8216;Stories of Christ and St. Michael&#8217; (1950-1954) is by Antonio Gaioni. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of particular interest are two 14th-century panels: a &#8216;St Michael Archangel slaying the dragon&#8217; attributed to Bernardo Daddi, and a &#8216;Madonna with Child and Musician Angels&#8217; by Giovanni di Bartolomeo Cristiani. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The church was immortalised by Angiolo Tommasi in the famous painting: &#8216;Blessing in the Countryside&#8217;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, the church is once again accessible thanks to a major restoration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":49484,"parent":0,"template":"","tipo-attrazione":[],"filter-who":[],"filter-time":[],"class_list":["post-52399","attrazione","type-attrazione","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"wpml_current_locale":"en_US","wpml_translations":[{"locale":"it_IT","id":49482,"post_title":"Crespina | Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo","href":"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/crespina-chiesa-di-san-michele-arcangelo\/"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/attrazione\/52399","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/attrazione"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/attrazione"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/49484"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=52399"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"tipo-attrazione","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tipo-attrazione?post=52399"},{"taxonomy":"filter-who","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/filter-who?post=52399"},{"taxonomy":"filter-time","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/filter-time?post=52399"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
