Little historical information has come down to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the village is the 18th-century Church of <strong>Saints Peter and Paul<\/strong>, with a polygonal plan. The interior features three small chapels with barrel vaults and marble altars. Entirely frescoed with sacred images and decorated with, stuccoes, it conserves two 17th-century oil paintings and, above all, a <strong>valuable organ made by Marcello Paoli in the late 19th and early 20th centuries<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its real attraction is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/en\/attrazione\/peccioli-libbiano-astronomical-observatory-of-libbiano\/\">Galileo Galilei Astronomical Observatory<\/a>, with a 4.25 m diameter dome and a Ritchey-Chr\u00e9tien telescope with a 500 mm aperture that guarantees a high level of performance. In 2009, a new main belt asteroid, named Peccioli, was discovered there. To complement the observatory&#8217;s activities, the former primary school has been converted into an Astronomical Centre and hosts conferences, screenings and the Planetarium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nearby is the small hamlet of <strong>Pratello<\/strong>, known for the <strong>Della Gherardesca villa farm<\/strong> built in the late 19th century.
