Martino"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The existence of a <strong>church dedicated to St Mary<\/strong> is already mentioned in documents from the year 840, regarding a donation. In the 15th century, the church still had a Pisan Romanesque style, while its current appearance derives from reconstruction in the 19th century and subsequent interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inside, in the chapel to the right of the presbytery, is the Madonna of the Rosary with portraits of the Sancasciani family, a late 16th-century work attributed to Domenico Crespi known as il Passignano, and a valuable 14th-century panel depicting the Madonna and Child, known as the Madonna delle Grazie, by the Master of San Torp\u00e8. The 1932 bell tower stands out on Piazza Garibaldi and bears interesting travertine reliefs carved by local artists<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not far from the church, in Piazza San Martino, is <strong>the Church of San Martino in Pietraia,<\/strong> built in the 14th century and completely rebuilt in the early 19th century. A crucifix from the 16th century that is the object of deep veneration, but by an unknown author (the initials, S.L.M, carved in a femur, are known), is kept at the high altar. The crucifix is displayed every year on 3 May on the Feast of the Holy Cross.
