{"id":28645,"date":"2022-01-03T14:45:10","date_gmt":"2022-01-03T13:45:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/?post_type=attrazione&#038;p=28645"},"modified":"2023-11-21T11:18:00","modified_gmt":"2023-11-21T10:18:00","slug":"pisa-villa-medici-in-the-estate-of-coltano","status":"publish","type":"attrazione","link":"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/en\/attrazione\/pisa-villa-medici-in-the-estate-of-coltano\/","title":{"rendered":"Pisa | Villa Medici in the Estate of Coltano"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The <strong>Tenuta (estate) di Coltano<\/strong> occupies over 3,000 hectares within the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.terredipisa.it\/en\/attrazione\/10361-2\/\"><strong>Regional Park of San Rossore Migliarino Massaciuccoli<\/strong><\/a>, which originally constituted a vast marshland that extended almost as far as Pisa.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Cosimo I<\/h2>\n<p>The Grand Duke Cosimo I began the construction of the <strong>Medici Villa<\/strong>, according to the project of Buontalenti, starting important hydraulic interventions to solve the swamping of the land that were then continued by Lorraine. The villa hosts the environmental education center that organizes excursions in the estate.\u00a0Visits are currently suspended for renovation works.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>The most powerful maritime radio station in Europe<\/h2>\n<p><strong>At the beginning of the 20th century the most powerful maritime radio station in Europe was here<\/strong>. Telephone communications passed with the transatlantic liners traveling in the Oceans and up to the China Sea. From here passed in 1911 the signal from a pulse pressed by <strong>Guglielmo Marconi<\/strong> in Rome, which turned on the lights of the statue of Christ the Redeemer in <strong>Rio<\/strong> <strong>de Janeiro<\/strong>.
